What is Eduset?
Eduset is an online classroom communication tool designed to make teachers' lives easier. It provides a way for teachers to share assignments, news, files, and more with their classes, without requiring them to code their own class websites.
How should I use Eduset with my classes?
The best way to describe using Eduset is with an example. Mr. Davis, a physics teacher, has created an Eduset page for his Honors Physics class, and has gotten all of his students to join. Each day he posts the day's assignment, which today is a worksheet on Newton's third law. In case any students lost the worksheet, he attaches the PDF file to his post. Next, he posts a YouTube video explaining how rockets propel themselves in space, which incorporates the concepts he went over today in class.
Later in the day, Julia, a student in his class, logs on to Eduset to check up on her classes. She notices that Mr. Davis has posted the day's assignment and downloads the worksheet, as she was out sick from school that day. After watching the video he posted, she leaves a comment asking a question about how Newton's second law factors into rocket propulsion. Other students see her comment, and soon there's a lively discussion about the physics of rockets going on, which Mr. Davis expands upon the next day in class.
In short, Eduset provides teachers a way to communicate and interact with their classes outside of the classroom, at a depth far beyond what simple email updates can provide.
What's in it for students?
If all of a student's teachers use Eduset, the student can see all of their assignments, upcoming tests, class notes, and class news in the same place, without having to go to each individual teacher's website, or email each one asking a question.
How much does Eduset cost, and what does an account give me?
The basic type of Eduset account is called Lite, and it lets you use Eduset with one class for free, for as long as you want. If you want to expand and use Eduset with all of your classes, you can subscribe to an Unlimited account for $4.99 per month. An Unlimited account allows you to create an unlimited number of classes, and gives you priority access to support. You can downgrade your Unlimited account to a Lite account at any time, provided you only have one active class.
